So now you have a Website and your online presence is complete right? Wrong now the real work starts .in this article I want to point out a few things as well as give you some food for thought and point you to some tools that I have found that have helped me get rolling and of course the best part being they are Free. I will note right here I am not an expert in website building nor IT guru , just a guy that has been playing with websites online for a number of years and have found some of these ways to make things easier for me , there is no perfect recipe , every website is different and unique , different methods used and different strategies applied , but some of the basics have some common threads
First new website owners need to understand a couple of basics outside their website , the online world is huge much bigger than most can even begin to imagine , where we are here today is at the smallest part of the iceberg .There are literally millions of websites out there , hence the importance of making yours not only get noticed but preferably stand out , that's no easy chore , but it is manageable over time , so how do we do that ? there a number of ways and strategies that can be applied , first we need to understand that just having a website is not the fix all , it's the start to a wonderful but long journey . we need to understand that the website does nothing by itself , at least not starting out , it will over time but starting you have to guide it along , point it where you want it to go , that starts with Search engine submissions , your website needs to be indexed into as many search engines as possible and indexing a website can take anywhere from a week to 6 or seven weeks per search engine before it actually begins to show up on the web , and folks google , yahoo ,bing are not even close to the amount of search engines out there , there are actually hundreds of them and you want your website indexed on as many as possible the more the better ,keeping in mind different search engines have different criteria for adding websites , some are quicker others slower in crawling your site ,also keep in mind doing it once is never enough , resubmitting about once a month is much better , companies charge good money to submit websites but there are FREE options available that anyone can use , if you dont already have a website analytics program for your website get one , Google analytics is free sign up it will give you a ton of tracking data so you can see what your site is doing , Bitly .com also provides a basic free version and also allows you to shorten long URL's , keeping your website title short helps , if it's too long some search engines will just disregard it

So there you have it , a small goldmine of free sites to get your website out there , most will require a signup some ask for a ad link to be posted on your site but not mandatory , keep in mind there are many more so don't just get stuck on google .
Websites generate Traffic , and that's the lifeblood of your website the more Traffic the better ,hence wanting that web analytics so you can track where it's all coming from . SEO Search engine Optimization , the key component to getting you indexed ,again there are options available ,and like with submissions, companies charge big bucks for SEO , depending on your particular website , certain keywords phrases Tags improve your indexing and ranking , and there free tools available to help maximize that

Good SEO is expensive without a doubt , Companies have entire budgets and experts set up just for that , it however doesn't mean you cant compete , the biggest hitch is usually finding the resources to use ,he not only does an excellent job listing them he gives you a short synopsis of each one so you can determine which ones will work best for you

Websites need Backlinks , not just any backlink but quality Backlinks , you can obtain many junk backlinks in a big hurry but that's not healthy for your website , your looking for quality backlinks from sites that are reputable , adding too many too quickly give search engines the spam impression and some will penalize you dearly for that , it's always good to periodically go thru and delete unwanted backlinks , a great resource for the whole backlink subject is here at

Graphic Editing Programs
working with your website sooner or later your going to need a Graphics Editor , adding pictures into your website , resizing pictures for optimal presentation or just to play with for your own personal use and or photo editing ,most operating systems come with a Graphics Editor standard but if you don't like it then what ? Well you can go out and buy Adobe Graphics program or Corel Draw or any number of other Professional Graphic programs but be aware they are definitely not cheap , but here too there are alternatives and some pretty good ones at that FREE

Here too many newer operating systems come with a basic video editing program or video maker but for those looking for a different option there are some pretty good Free versions for editing Videos like a pro , but in Free programs you are sometimes limited to what you can do , some have watermarks allowing you to play with them but when you upload it's like UGH!! what is that, I have a fairly reasonably priced Professional program with all options in my product articles but for those that want FREE ,these might be a good alternative, All of these video editors are either entirely free to use or have an excellent free version. This video software ranges from basic to advanced.

Tools and Resources to get you up and running , none of these are exhaustive by any means ,there are many many more , Internet tools, Software Programs to tweak your website, are constantly coming out almost daily so stay plugged in to it , the Internet changes all the time and people, websites, programs, have to adapt to the changes to stay in the flow of things , hence my reference to a long and wonderful journey , it is always a never ending learning experience keep that in mind as you move forward , Always do your research ahead of time , never let yourself get pressured into anything , especially not financially , do not give up your banking info like your handing out candy it can come back and ruin your day , there is one more important tidbit I would like to mention , I recently came across several youtube videos claiming that you can make easy money doing videos on youtube using the creative commons license , Dont believe it for a minute and here is why , can you use a creative commons video yes , but what you do with it is what counts , you need to understand that if you download a creative commons video and re upload it as your own chances are good your account will get flagged if not shut down , for 1 that license can be changed at anytime by the original owner of the content in which case your running the risk of copyright infringement , secondly youtube algorithms track duplication pretty extensively and will flag you very quickly and demonetize your video , and lastly you need about 4 thousand viewing hrs and a minimum of 1k subscribers before you can monetize any video so keep that in mind , the best Content is always your own content period
